Once upon a time there was a nurse who saw something that deeply concerned her….expectant teen mothers who were not receiving pre-natal care, who needed some assistance to finish school, and who needed an environment to support them during this very difficult time. She thought about ways to help these young moms-to-be and what she could do to help the situation. She was talking this over with some of her friends while on a mission trip to Mexico and the dream of Grace Cottage started. A place where

these young mothers would have a nurturing, Christian environment while awaiting the birth of their babies.

That dream started in the late 1990’s with some individuals wanting to make a difference in the lives of these young women and their babies. After much thought and prayer, a property became available to make this dream a reality. Many faithful volunteers put many hours in to prepare the home that now houses Grace Cottage Crisis Pregnancy Center.

Grace Cottage is now available to any teen mom to be in the state of Oklahoma. A young woman can stay at the cottage from the time she first learns she is pregnant until 45 days after the birth of her baby (as dictated by OKDHS – who is the licensing agent).

While at Grace Cottage, these young mothers participate in

  • Parenting Classes
  • Childbirth Classes
  • Children’s First Nurse Program
  • Cottage Cash Program (where they learn about pregnancy and parenting and earn items for their babies)
  • Mentoring Mom’s program (volunteer moms who mentor our young women)
  • These young women receive
  • Prenatal care
  • Counseling
  • Group Counseling

These young mothers are also required to pursue their high school diploma or GED while at Grace Cottage. Those young women who are 16 years old or older can work toward their Certified Nursing Assistant Certification also while at Grace Cottage. These young women also agree to attend church regularly.
